Apple defends tax deal with Ireland amid European Commission investigation

The European Commission on Tuesday announced that it has reached the “preliminary view” that a corporate tax deal granted to Apple in Ireland constitutes illegal state aid. Meanwhile, Apple continues to stress that it does not receive selective tax treatment in Ireland and is subject to the same tax laws as countless other international companies doing business in the country. Apple granted patent for interactive holographic display device

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday granted Apple with a patent related to a glasses-free interactive holographic display device that utilizes laser beams, micro lenses and sensors to show holographic images of objects. Samsung reportedly supplying panels for iPad Air 2 and 12.9-inch 'iPad Pro'

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to provide Apple with 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch panels for the upcoming iPad Air 2 and so-called “iPad Pro” respectively. According to Taiwanese blog DigiTimes, citing a Korea-based news source, Samsung will begin manufacturing the panels in the coming months ahead of making shipments before the end of 2014. Apple suing Steven Lamar for claiming to be Beats co-founder

Earlier this year, Steven Lamar, a pioneer of Beats headphones in 2006, filed a complaint against Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine that claimed he was owed royalties on certain models of headphones that the celebrity-endorsed brand sells. Now, Apple is firing back with a lawsuit against Lamar for allegedly falsely claiming that he is a Beats co-founder. Continue reading

On September 19, Apple officially launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in several different areas all over the globe. Mainland China was not one of them, though, as regulatory issues continue to impede the handset’s launch. The gray markets in the region, though, have kept up with the demand as scalpers try to flip a profit to those willing to pay the inflated price tag.
